this weekend

Just drove north on the 405, randomly chose an exit...
this is 5 minutes from Magic Mountain.

...

I noticed what I thought was a bunch of trash
in a pine grove just off the path.
What I came upon instead
was all that was left of a red tail hawk
who didnt go down without a fight...
feathers scattered
in a large spiral pattern
A crow cawed plaintively
as I investigated
and then a big gust blew
half the feathers
up and away,
a sublime final flight

***

It was incredibly windy...no really
it was strong enough to push me uphill
but it also tried to shove me off a cliff.
I had to lay flat until it subsided.
But all that wind meant I had
Castaic Lake all to myself
(except for the one guy I saw fishing)

!

It was so windy
that this duck
which I passed on the way in
was gone
on the way out

The Ballad of...

They opened
She fell in.

She opened
He parted.

He parted
She opened further.

AM/PM

It had been meant in an innocent sort of way, but it just hung in the air...pulsing...gathering blood like an erection.

While inside my head

Also,
while walking,
I saw
in a peaceful green yard
toys after a battle
A dinosaur and a crocodile.
the dino on its side, its mouth suspended in a silent roar
the croc on its back, its claws scratching at an impenetrable sky

HER: This is my friend, Bella.
HIM: Bella, that's a nice name.
ME: Yeah. Things with two "L"s feel good in your mouth.

ode to my fan

the blades slice the space into infinity
and I sleep better
when the particles of my day
disperse
Yesterday saw a red tailed hawk perched on a street lamp on Centinela Blvd (ironically centinela means sentinel in english)...and it just seemed so out of place, out of sync with the traffic signals and the 7 eleven and the dotted line of cars below. And in that moment I was the hawk, taking it all in from a perch, just trying to adapt to the neverending set of changing circumstances and moods, belonging to something else but needing to survive here.

And what I had known in the morning with certainty seemed of little use by the afternoon and barely believed by night.

peeing is believing

While I laid on the grass by the koi pond a little girl, no older than 4 approached me.

"Some people pee in there.", she said authoritatively.

This Weekend

Huntington Gardens is the best LSD i've ever taken.
And even though I felt very on drugs the entire day,
I was still "that" person, the one people ask for directions,
the one people ask to take their picture.
4 different couples asked me if I would take their picture.
they stood stiff as boards wearing magazine smiles
in front of all this aliveness.
Very polite.
I enjoyed imagining them having sex.

The trees had A LOT to say, obviously.

Butterflies always seem like they are in love
or flirting...
Flowers only know how to give.
A woman got so excited about the praying mantis on this rose that
she summoned over a complete stranger (me) to share the experience with her.

It was like we all sort of 'prayed' together...

everything has a story.

is that a building in your pants or are you just happy to see me...

what I think
is less than I know
what I know
is less than I love
what I love
is less than there is

On the rooftop parking lot of STAPLES
to document the glorious sunset
Had my iPod going full blast
dancing around, singing and snapping away
thought I was the only one up there.

Nope...
A young man was getting a blowjob in a parked car.

Like I said, GLORIOUS SUNSET!
